We split the week of National Day (yes, I said the week of National Day) between the provincial city and the city of Guangzhou (Canton). The contrast was remarkable. One is in a dry place and the weather had been autumnal the entire time. The other is tropical and humid the place adoptive families stay is on an island with a pedestrian orientation. Beautifully landscaped, it is a destination for couples to have their bridal portraits taken. The hotel was (for the same price) loads nicer. There, too, we ran into other adoptive families and made new connections that we hope to preserve.
